Imran Khan was born on 13 January 1983. His real name is Imran Pal and his father’s name is Anil Pal, a Bengali Indian-American of mixed Bengali-English origin. His parents divorced when he was one and a half years old and he replaced his surname from Pal to Khan. His nephews in film industry are actor Aamir Khan and producer-director Mansoor Khan. Imran gained popularity for his debut role in Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na which had been released on 2008.
Khan made appearances as a child artist in his uncle Aamir's films, Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak (1988) and Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander (1992). He played the role of a young Aamir Khan in both movies. He aspired to be a director, as that was his original plan before he entered Bollywood as an actor. Imran joined Kishore Namit Kapoor's Acting Institute in Mumbai.
In 2010, he appeared in I Hate Luv Storys, directed by debutant Punit Malhotra and produced by Karan Johar. The film went on to become a hit at the box office. He has large group of fans following him in South India. His films received great response among the non - Hindi speaking groups. It is noteworthy that his recent release I Hate Luv Storys was a tremendous hit in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
His forthcoming films include, Delhi Belly, an English language comedy directed by debutant Abhinay Deo, and Break Ke Baad directed by debutant Danish Aslam and produced by Kunal Kohli.
The latest report is that the actor will be performing a cameo role in a Telugu movie titled Badrinath. The film features Bunny aka Allu Arjun in lead role with Tamanna Bhatia starring opposite him in female lead role. The film is directed by V.V. Vinayak and is produced by Allu Arjun’s father Allu Aravind under the banner of Geetha Arts. Nonetheless, the closer sources remain tight lipped on Imran Khan’s cameo appearance in this movie.
Imran engaged to his long-time girlfriend, Avantika Malik, on 16 January 2010 in the farm house of Avantika's family in Karjat near Navi Mumbai.
